Tony Danza Insists He Didn’t Ghost Valerie Bertinelli
Tony Danza and Valerie Bertinelli playfully disagreed about their history during a cooking segment on Tuesday’s episode of “The Drew Barrymore Show.” While Danza, 74, prepared his “date sauce” in front of Drew Barrymore and Bertinelli, a humorous exchange unfolded that revealed a playful misunderstanding between the two stars.
As Danza stirred the sauce, Bertinelli, 65, teased him, saying, “So this is a sauce that you’ve never made for me even though I left my phone number in your glove box.” Barrymore, 50, then directly asked Danza, “Did you ever find Val’s phone number in your glove box?”
“No, I did not!” Danza responded, jokingly adding, “But I think she’s full of baloney!”
Continuing to cook, Danza explained, “I used to say, ‘Hey, come over. I’ll cook something.’ And I cooked this stuff.” Bertinelli quickly interjected, “I don’t know, I never heard those words,” prompting Barrymore to ask Danza, “Is this how you wooed the ladies?”
Earlier in the episode, Bertinelli revealed to Barrymore that Danza “never called me,” causing a gasp from the audience. Barrymore replied with a knowing smile, “They never do, by the way.”
A Look at Their Personal Lives
Tony Danza was previously married to Rhonda Yeoman from 1970 to 1974 and to film producer Tracy Robinson from 1986 to 2013. He has three children: son Marc Anthony with Yeoman and daughters Katie and Emily with Robinson.
Valerie Bertinelli was married to late rocker Eddie Van Halen from 1981 to 2007 and to financier Tom Vitale from 2011 to 2022. She recently dated writer Mike Goodnough for less than a year before their breakup in November 2024.
Reflections on Dating and Marriage
During another recent appearance on “The Drew Barrymore Show,” Bertinelli admitted she’s “never been on a first date.”
“No one’s ever asked me out,” the “One Day at a Time” star shared, adding that she was very young when she first got married. “Well, I got married at 20 and I was married for 20 years, 20 some odd years,” she reflected.
Bertinelli also reminisced about meeting Eddie Van Halen, who passed away from throat cancer in October 2020.
“My brother Patrick brought us to the concert they were having in Shreveport, Louisiana,” she recalled. “My parents lived out there and we just made eyes and then we talked backstage and then we talked after the show. Then he asked me out to a concert in Oklahoma, so Patrick and I went and then we were together ever since.”
“Eight months later, we were married,” Bertinelli added.
The lighthearted exchange between Danza and Bertinelli offered a charming glimpse into their friendship and past, reminding fans of their enduring bond both on and off screen.
