Playboi Carti was charged with misdemeanor assault following an altercation involving his girlfriend and a limousine driver earlier this month. According to authorities, the incident occurred on October 2 in Park City, Utah, when the limo driver, Carl Reynolds, attempted to transport the rapper and his girlfriend from their hotel to a rehearsal location, as reported by TMZ.
During the drive, Reynolds stated that Carti (born Jordan Terrell Carter) began arguing with his girlfriend, which prompted Reynolds to intervene. At one point during the confrontation, Reynolds said he was struck, leading him to pull over in Heber City to a safer location. The driver also claimed that Carti’s security team got involved to separate those involved in the altercation.
In his police report, Reynolds mentioned that another driver employed by the same company, ALC A Limousine Connection, witnessed the incident. Wasatch County police eventually responded and documented Reynolds’ injuries.
Representatives for Playboi Carti and the Park City Police Department did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Page Six.
This recent arrest adds to a series of legal issues the rapper has faced. In 2017, Carti was charged with domestic battery. Two years later, in 2019, he was fined $900 for assaulting his tour bus driver in Scotland, according to various news sources.
In 2020, Carti was arrested in Georgia after police found drugs and firearms in his Lamborghini. Authorities reported that he was in possession of 12 bags of marijuana, three guns, Xanax, codeine, and oxycodone. He was released on bond the following day.
