Jennifer’s Body 2 Gets Exciting Update From First Movie’s Director

**Karyn Kusama Confirms Jennifer’s Body Sequel in Development: “Sounds Fun and Crazy Like the First Movie”**

Director Karyn Kusama recently spoke about the lasting impact of *Jennifer’s Body* and confirmed that writer Diablo Cody is developing a sequel to the cult comedy-horror film.

In an interview with Deadline, Kusama shared her excitement about the new project. “I know she’s working on it right now, and I’m very excited to hear what comes of it,” Kusama revealed. While she didn’t disclose many details, she teased, “I know some of the bones of it, so I’m not going to give anything away, but it sounds fun and crazy like the first film. And I have no doubt that Diablo will do something absolutely incredible with it.”

*Jennifer’s Body* originally released in 2009, starring Megan Fox as Jennifer, a high school cheerleader possessed by a demon who targets her male classmates. Amanda Seyfried played Needy, Jennifer’s best friend, who is determined to stop her. Although the film underperformed at the box office, it has since gained a devoted cult following.

Kusama expressed gratitude that the film eventually found its audience despite initial mis-marketing by the studio. Reflecting on the film’s legacy, she said, “For the part of me that has a healthy ego that I try to keep in check, to have *Jennifer’s Body* be like the antidote to another classic film that I worship—the idea that *Jennifer’s Body* would be somebody’s *Godfather* just tickles me all the way down to my toes.”

She also praised Diablo Cody’s original script, highlighting its “funny, scary, and tragic” tone. Kusama noted that the film’s themes of female friendship and self-discovery felt emotionally authentic, which has contributed to its strong resonance with fans.

Recalling the casting process, Kusama mentioned Pete Wentz’s audition for Adam Brody’s role and expressed admiration for the entire cast, including Amanda Seyfried, J. K. Simmons, Amy Sedaris, and Kyle Gallner. She described Megan Fox as “really, really funny” and “deeply intelligent,” adding that the role allowed Fox to channel the scrutiny she faced at the time.

With Diablo Cody currently developing the sequel, fans of *Jennifer’s Body* have plenty to look forward to as this “fun and crazy” story prepares to return to the screen.
