While the rest of your Sunday will remain quiet, Monday morning will kick off the new work week with downpours and gusty winds.
Overnight, ahead of the rain, clouds and wind will begin to increase. Early Monday morning, the rain will push into western Massachusetts. In central Massachusetts, downpours are expected between 6 and 7 a.m. and will continue until noon. For Boston and other parts of eastern Massachusetts, the rain won’t arrive until after 9 a.m.
The rain will move slowly eastward because the axis of rain extends from south to north, moving in a north-northeasterly direction. The heaviest rainfall in Boston is likely between 10 a.m. and noon. Rainfall rates may be heavy enough to cause some nuisance flooding in poor-drainage areas, so please take it slow on the roads.
Most areas will dry out by early afternoon, but rain could linger into the late afternoon in far northeastern Massachusetts, as well as on Cape Cod and the islands.
High temperatures will reach the mid-60s in the morning but will drop as the day progresses. Along with the heavy rain, strong winds are expected. Wind gusts could top 30 to 40 mph along the line of rain. There may also be a few rumbles of thunder.
The rest of Monday will remain breezy with an isolated chance of showers.
Tuesday will be bright and pleasant, offering a nice break between the first and second rounds of rain. Morning lows will be in the 40s, with highs reaching the mid-60s.
We’re tracking more rain and wind for Wednesday, with highs in the low 60s. Thursday will be near 60 degrees with a low-end chance of a spot shower.
Friday and Saturday will be partly sunny and cooler, with highs in the mid to upper 50s. Late Sunday, another chance for rain is expected.
Stay tuned for updates!
